Manager – Database Administration (DBA)

About the Role

NeSL is seeking an experienced Manager – DBA to lead database administration, database development, production support, performance optimization, and business-critical data operations. The role will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and integrity of enterprise databases while supporting high-volume transactional systems, IU Billing processes, and business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration & Production Support

  • Manage and support business-critical production databases and applications.
  • Provide L2/L3 support for database-related production incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, locking, replication, and data-related issues.
  • Ensure database availability, reliability, and operational stability.

Database Development & Performance Optimization

  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
  • Analyze execution plans and identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Implement indexing, query tuning, and scalable data-processing strategies.
  • Support large-volume transaction processing and reporting workloads.

IU Billing Management

  • Own end-to-end IU Billing database processes, including data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and report generation.
  • Ensure accurate billing calculations and prevent duplicate, incorrect, or missed billing transactions.
  • Analyze discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with Business, Finance, and Technology teams for billing enhancements and issue resolution.

Data Migration & Data Management

  • Lead data migration, transformation, and consolidation initiatives.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation before and after migrations.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across systems.

Incident, Change & Release Management

  • Act as the technical lead during critical database incidents.
  • Support releases, patches, migrations, and production deployments.
  • Conduct impact analysis and risk assessments for database changes.
  • Drive root cause analysis and preventive actions for recurring issues.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor DBA and database development team members.
  • Review database designs, SQL code, and production changes.
  • Establish database development standards and operational best practices.
  • Manage priorities, task allocation, and timely project delivery.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in MySQL and RDBMS concepts.
  • Advanced SQL development and query optimization.
  • Experience with Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Events, and Views.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with high-volume transactional databases and batch processing.
  • Knowledge of replication, backup/recovery, and production environments.
  • Experience in data migration, validation, reconciliation, and data quality management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage critical production issues under pressure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, and decision-making ability.
  • Experience leading technical teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Deliverables

  • High availability and performance of production databases.
  • Timely resolution of production incidents within SLA.
  • Optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes.
  • Accurate and timely execution of IU Billing and reporting processes.
  • Successful data migration and reconciliation activities.
  • Updated SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Continuous improvement through automation and process optimization.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant Database, Cloud, or Technology Certifications will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience in Database Administration, SQL Development, Production Support, Database Performance Tuning, and High-Volume Data Processing.

Preferred experience in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Payments, Exchanges, Depositories, or Enterprise Platforms.
